Air Training Corps
As a Cadet in the Air Training Corps (ATC), you could fly military aircraft or take part in aerobatics, learn to fly a glider or go on a UK or overseas camp.
Then there’s shooting, parachuting, caving, climbing, adventure training, sports, helping communities, parades, the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and the chance to join a band.
There’s lots to choose from so it’s up to you to find the activities you enjoy. But the more you put in to the ATC, the more you’ll get out of it.
Who can join?
Anyone between 13 and 18 years of age can join and, with over 40,000 members, the ATC is the world’s biggest youth air training organisation.
How do you join?
If you live in the UK there’s almost bound to be at least one of our 1,000 Squadrons near you. Follow the link and then click on the area of the interactive map which is nearest to you. This will take you to the Squadron Finder which will give you useful telephone numbers and addresses.

The ATC isn’t a recruiting service for the RAF, it’s more of a ‘club’ for young people, male and female, who are up for a challenge. Membership costs are kept to the bare minimum and we even supply your uniform which is similar to the one worn by RAF personnel.
