JUDO
In Japanese, judo literally means ‘the gentle way’. This martial art is a skilful contact sport where you need more than brute strength to progress. Speed of movement, balance, strategy , intense training and team spirit are keys to success.
Judo lessons at RAF bases are open to everyone aged four or over. You need to be a member of the RAF aged 18 or over to take part in competitions.
Get involved
- Most bases hold judo lessons with trained instructors in their gyms. Everyone is welcome and, although there is no minimum standard, if you show talent and commitment you could be competing at the highest level within the RAF
Use the Events Finder to find training sessions near you.
- RAF personnel aged 18 or over can compete in judo. Once you join the forces, you can become a member of the RAF Judo Association to train and take part in competitions
